For more than 1000 years Clan Chiefs and Lords of Lorn ruled large areas of Argyll and the Isles from Dunollie. Today Dunollie Castle remains the seat and ancestral home of Clan MacDougall and stands as an iconic monument to the history of the area. Standing guard over Oban Bay, the superbly located museum and castle provide an exciting journey of discovery for visitors.

The discovery of the first MacDougall tartan at Dunollie has led to the opening of an online shop, selling a replica of the beautiful historic tartan which has been named The Heritage MacDougall.
