Oban Town Ambassadors / Digital Ambassador
Our Town Ambassadors work during April to October each year and do a fantastic job of meeting and greeting both visitors and locals alike.
What is a Town Ambassador I hear you ask! Town Ambassadors are carefully selected to provide a street-based service to the people in Oban. Our Ambassadors provide a positive and cheerful welcome to visitors to the town. They work as mobile tourist information hubs, providing visitors with information about the town itself, the local businesses and the attractions in and around Oban.
Our Ambassadors are fully trained by BID4Oban and some of the local businesses/organisations in town. They work hard to present a positive image of Oban to visitors arriving from trains, cruise ships, ferries and buses. They have extensive knowledge of all of the local businesses from retail to hospitality to attractions and are always on hand to help you fill your day with the exciting opportunties Oban has to offer.
They provide physical literature which is available to all on the things to do in town or can direct you to information online.
All of our Ambassadors have a passion for Oban. They are lively and positive people who have a high degree of motivation and customer service skills. They will always go that extra mile to help!
Kay

Kay has lived in Oban all of her life, her family roots are firmly set here, going back several generations. Her excellent knowledge of the town and the surrounding areas was broadened further as she spent five years working in the local Tourist Information Office. Kay has a passion for Oban and thrives to make others see its true beauty and full potential. She is involved with groups that aim to improve the town and the lives of the local residents and also volunteers as the secretary of a charitable organisation providing support for those in need. As well as being a Town Ambassador and secretary to the Breathe Easy organisation, Kay is also a member of Oban & Lorn Lions. She is also fully trained in Indian Head Massage!!

Joe is one of the founding members of the Oban War & Peace Museum. As well as working hard as a Town Ambassador, Joe spends his days off working as a Watch Keeper at the Museum. Joe enjoys talking to and meeting new people. He loves being out and about in town especially when the sun is shining! Joe's specialist subject is history. He loves nothing more than sharing his passion and local knowledge with the visitors and local people of Oban. For many years Joe worked as a guard for Oban Railway Station, cementing his confidence when engaging with visitors in terms of conversing and customer service.
